In line with the university’s 5-year Strategic Plan, the Centre for Research & Graduate Studies was established in 2010 to provide academically challenging postgraduate programmes and encourage innovation through research, development and commercialization. This is in keeping with the university’s belief that institutions of higher learning should not only teach established knowledge but must also generate new knowledge.
The centre also serves postgraduate students and lecturers by providing assistance and training to enable them to excel academically and to be able to conduct high-quality research. It administers postgraduate research-based programmes alongside other postgraduate coursework-based programmes that are managed directly by the Faculties.
The centre is a focal point for research at the university and it serves to ensure that there are sufficient research funding and resources available to drive the university’s research objectives. The centre is also responsible for driving the university’s research & commercialization partnerships both domestically and internationally.
