The Faculty of Safety and Health is an academic division within UoC that focuses on the education, research, and practice related to occupational safety, health, and environmental management. This faculty aims to prepare students to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in various workplace and community settings.
As a fast-paced developing nation, Malaysia continues to see significant infrastructure and industrial growth thus paving the need for Occupational Safety & Health professionals. Faculty of Safety and Health consists of a multidisciplinary team of lecturers and industry experts providing health and safety education.
From risk management, and hazardous substance management to hygiene and pollution control, the faculty addresses a wide range of industry issues and helps to ensure its students are provided with the best knowledge and skills to manage all situations.
The Faculty of Safety and Health has built strong industry connections to ensure its students are exposed only to the latest in industry best practices. Currently, the OSH programmes are delivered under the diploma, degree and master’s levels.
Furthermore, the Faculty of Safety and Health actively engages in research and development activities, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of occupational safety and health. Associate Professor Dr. Rosli Abdul Rahman graduated from the University of Utara Malaysia with an MSc in Occupational Safety and Health. He has more than 23 years of professional experience and has served as a Human Resources Manager, Safety Consultant, and Safety Officer in various industries. He was appointed by MQA as a panel to develop standards for occupational health and safety programmes for diploma, undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programmes in Malaysia. He is also a consultant for Negeri Sembilan Industrial Liaison Committee (NSILC). He was also registered as a former safety and health officer with the Department of Safety and Health (DOSH) and a member of the Malaysian Industrial Hygiene Association (MIHA).
Associate Professor Dr. Rosli has a wide experience in the areas of safety and health including the inspection, training, auditing, and investigation of accidents/incidents in industries. He served as a Safety and Health Officer, as Secretary of the Safety and Health Committee, and was in charge of the plant’s Emergency Response Team. While serving as the Safety and Health Officer, he conducted several safety and health, and environmental training for the employees of the plant.
Focusing on OSH research areas and managed by the Centre for Graduate Studies, Research and Commercialization
