In recent years, Malaysia has seen an explosion in the number of social media influencers, reshaping the way many young people view success and careers. Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube have become platforms for fame and fortune, and the allure of being a content creator has captivated the hearts of many.

However, with this rise comes challenges. Earlier this year, Bernama reported that over 10,000 candidates who registered for the SPM 2023 examinations failed to sit for them. The reason? Social media influencers promoting the idea that success and wealth can be attained without formal education. Many young people are drawn to this narrative, believing that school is no longer necessary to achieve their dreams.

While it’s true that some influencers have found success, the reality is that standing out in the crowded world of social media requires more than just a smartphone and charisma. It demands creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of how to engage and captivate an audience. This is where education in Creative Arts and Design becomes invaluable.

University of Cyberjaya students have the opportunity to prepare their future as social media influencers and content creators, with access to the latest tools and expert guidance from experienced tutors.
