10.6.2 – Access to university track underrepresented groups applications

At University of Cyberjaya, we are deeply committed to fostering diversity and inclusion within our student body. To support this mission, we actively measure and track applications and admissions of various underrepresented and potentially underrepresented groups. This includes ethnic minorities, low-income students, non-traditional students, women and disabled students.

Our admissions team systematically collects demographic information at different stages of the application process. The following groups are closely monitored to ensure that our admissions practices promote inclusivity and diversity:

  1. Ethnic Minorities: We track the number of applications and admissions from students identifying with ethnic minority groups and evaluate these trends in relation to the general population and historical data.
  2. Low-Income Students: Socioeconomic background data is collected through self-reported income levels or eligibility for financial aid programs. We analyze this data to understand how well we are serving students from low-income families.
  3. Non-Traditional Students: We define non-traditional students as those who may have delayed their education, are returning to school later in life, or may not have followed the conventional educational path. This includes mature students, part-time students, or those balancing education with work or family responsibilities.
  4. Men and Women: Gender data is collected to ensure gender diversity is upheld, particularly in fields traditionally dominated by one gender, such as STEM programs.
  5. Disabled Students: We track applications from students who voluntarily disclose a disability, as well as the types of accommodations they may require, to ensure we are meeting their needs and providing equitable access.
  6. Refugee and Newly Settled Students: Refugee status and immigration background data are collected, allowing us to better understand the needs of these students and provide tailored support services where necessary.
