Expert Advice to Government

University practices Anti-bribery and Anti-corruption policy by parent company, Minda Global Berhad. This Policy is intended to provide all employees with a basic introduction on how to combat bribery and corruption in furtherance of the group’s commitment to lawful and ethical behaviour at all times.

Participation in Government Research

Students from the Faculty of Traditional and Complementary Medicine volunteered at Free Tree Society Kuala Lumpur, a non-profit environmental society empowering people to preserve, conserve and save environment. Students helped sorting, re-potting and propagating plants at their nursery nestled in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. These plants are for giveaway days with the goal to share as many plants for the benefit of the environment. Since 2013, over 30,000 plants are given away for free to homeowners, schools, marginalized groups, community gardens and wildlife habitats to proliferate planting, to encourage biodiversity and to promote a love of nature.

Academic staff provides expert advice to local, regional, or national government through policy guidance and participation in committees.

UoC Humanity Ethics Committee 

Objectives 

The Humanity Ethics Committee (HEC) of the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) is established to uphold the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, and accountability across the University’s academic, research, and administrative activities. The Committee plays a critical role in ensuring that all practices involving human participants, stakeholders, and the wider community are conducted in accordance with ethical principles, regulatory requirements, and institutional values. 

The Committee aims to: 

  • Ensure ethical standards are maintained in all activities involving human participants  
  • Safeguard the rights, dignity, and well-being of individuals  
  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and ethical responsibility  
  • Support compliance with national and international ethical guidelines  

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

The Humanity Ethics Committee is responsible for: 

  • Reviewing and approving research proposals involving human participants  
  • Evaluating ethical risks and ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place  
  • Providing guidance on ethical issues related to teaching and community engagement  
  • Monitoring ongoing research and activities for ethical compliance  
  • Addressing and reviewing complaints, concerns, or ethical breaches  
  • Promoting awareness and education on ethical practices within the University  

 

Meeting and Governance 

The Humanity Ethics Committee maintains a structured and consistent governance approach: 

  • The Committee’s regular meeting takes place first week of each month.
