The Bachelor of Dietetics at the Faculty of Health, University of Cyberjaya, continues to emphasise experiential learning and community engagement through an Autism awareness and inclusion-focused programme organised in collaboration with Rumah Kaseh Putra Perdana, Puchong.

The initiative provided Dietetics students with meaningful real-world exposure to neurodiverse communities, strengthening their understanding of autism awareness, inclusive healthcare practices, and community nutrition engagement. It supported student development in communication, empathy, teamwork, and patient-centred care through direct interaction in a community setting.

Children participated in structured, sensory-friendly activities including dance movement sessions, hand painting, colour-matching games, and fruit and vegetable identification. These activities encouraged engagement, creativity, and positive interaction between students and participants.

A sharing session by Puan Nurul Atilia Binti Abdullah, Dietitian from Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), provided insights into nutritional considerations for children with autism, highlighting the role of dietitians in supporting developmental needs.

Parents also shared their lived experiences of raising children with autism, offering valuable perspectives on family-centred care and the importance of community support.
Through initiatives like this, the Bachelor of Dietetics programme continues to bridge academic learning with community impact, preparing future dietitians who are competent, compassionate, and socially responsible.
