49 New University Of Cyberjaya Students Receive Zakat Aid for the New Semester

Cyberjaya, 4th December 2020The Tabung Amanah Zakat dan Kebajikan University of Cyberjaya (TAZUoC) recently offered zakat contributions to 49 deserving students at the University of Cyberjaya for the new October 2020 intake.

With a grand total contribution of RM52,400, these students will be receiving monthly allowances that range between RM100 to RM250 for 6 months from October 2020 to March 2021.

TAZUoC also contributed RM2,000 to 2 students from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Faculty of Traditional and Complementary Medicine to help pay their tuition fees.

Year 2 Bachelor of Psychology student, Nurhayati Ameer expressed her gratitude for receiving the aid that helped to lighten the burden on her parents.

“I feel extremely relieved with this aid from TAZUoC. My parents’ careers where affected since the movement control order was initiated in March. They have run out of ideas to find other financial resources to pay for my unsettled tuition fees,” said Nurhayati

Another student also received funeral expenses aid of RM500 following the death of the student’s father on the 24th of October 2020. It is common practice for TAZUoC to give some compensation to students who have lost a parent during their studies at the University of Cyberjaya. To receive the aid, they will simply need to inform TAZUoC at the event of their parents’ death.

TAZUoC chairman, Professor Madya Mohamad Saidy Ismail confirmed that all aid has been deposited into the bank accounts of the students. All payment had to be performed online due to the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) which does not allow students to be at campus.

He said: “We hope the zakat aid reduces the financial burden on students and their families so they can be driven to stay focused in their online learning throughout the challenging CMCO period.”

TAZUoC is still open to students under the beneficiaries of zakat category who would like to apply for financial aid throughout the year.

Apart from financial allowances and tuition fee aid, TAZUoC also provides help in terms of emergencies, medical help, disasters, funeral expenses and more.
