The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) welcomed the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year with its Chinese New Year Celebration 2026, themed “Galloping Forward Together as Changemakers”. Held at the UoC Courtyard on Level UG, the celebration brought together university leadership, staff, and students in a lively display of unity, cultural appreciation, and festive cheer.

Adding significance to the celebration was the presence of Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya, whose attendance underscored the importance of cultural celebrations in fostering unity and strengthening the sense of community across the campus

The celebration began with an energetic firecracker ceremony, symbolically marking the start of the festivities and welcoming prosperity for the year ahead. The programme then continued with the traditional Prosperity Toss (Lou Sang) ceremony, where the University’s senior leaders, Deans, lecturers, and members of the Student Council gathered to toss the colourful ingredients high into the air while exchanging wishes for abundance, success, and good fortune.

Representing the student body, Rashvien Balachandran, President of the Student Council, together with Yuvendran Saravana Kumar, Student Council Sports and Recreational Exco, joined the Lou Sang ceremony alongside university leaders. Their participation symbolised the shared hope for a prosperous and successful year ahead for the entire student community.

One of the most anticipated highlights of the day was the vibrant Lion Dance performance. Accompanied by rhythmic drumming and lively movements, the performance captivated the crowd as students and staff gathered around the courtyard to watch and celebrate the festive occasion together.

The lion dancers also continued the celebration across campus by visiting offices for a traditional office blessing ceremony, bringing good fortune and positive energy to the workplace.

More than just a festive gathering, the celebration brought the campus community together in a meaningful way. Laughter, cultural traditions, and shared experiences filled the courtyard as students and staff came together to mark the occasion.

Through celebrations such as this, the University of Cyberjaya continues to foster a vibrant, inclusive, and connected campus environment, bringing students and staff together while celebrating the rich cultural diversity of its community.

The Chinese New Year Celebration 2026 reflects UoC’s commitment to fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and connected campus environment, inspiring hope, positivity, and prosperity as the university community moves forward together as Changemakers.
