The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) proudly partners as a silver sponsor at the Youth Economic Forum (YEF) 2024, a premier gathering that unites dynamic young leaders and key industry professionals. UoC’s support underscores its commitment to fostering leadership and innovation, particularly in areas of education and social development.

YEF is organised by the Perdana Fellowship Alumni Association, alongside partners from various industries. The Perdana Fellowship is a prestigious programme established by the Malaysian government, providing selected young Malaysians with the opportunity to intern with ministers and senior officials across different government ministries. This programme aims to nurture future leaders by giving young people firsthand experience in government and public service, fostering a generation of capable and informed leaders.

With this year’s theme, A Second Economic Takeoff: Malaysia’s Path to the New Economy, the forum featured insightful dialogues, interactive sessions, and networking opportunities to empower youth to drive impactful change in their communities and industries. Delegates from universities nationwide engaged with like-minded peers, exchanged ideas, and gathered insights on today’s pressing economic issues.

The forum explored various economic opportunities and highlighted key themes relevant today, including youth empowerment, industry innovation, sustainability, the green economy, and employment.

One of the panels that stood out was on the green economy. A green economy aims to reduce the environmental impact of production and consumption. This model marks a shift from a traditional economy focused solely on economic growth, often at the expense of the environment, towards sustainable practices that promote economic growth while improving public health – particularly relevant to Malaysia.

The forum also discussed the role of youth in creating a lasting, impactful economy through entrepreneurship. It examined the effects of digital transformation, the growing demand for digital literacy, and the potential of technology to bridge gaps in education and employment. This panel further explored emerging career paths, and the skills required to thrive in a digital economy.

UoC is dedicated to empowering our students to build strong professional networks, deepen their industry knowledge, and make meaningful contributions to society. Through opportunities like the Youth Economic Forum, we gain invaluable insights into key sectors, preparing them to become the next Changemakers.
