University of Cyberjaya (UoC) defines sustainability as a term that encompasses all aspects of ethical business practices by addressing relevant issues responsibly and profitably.

The University recognises the importance of sustainability and its increasing impact to our operations. We are committed to understanding and implementing sustainable practices and to exploring the benefits to the University whilst attempting to achieve the right balance between the needs of the wider community and our focus on delivering quality education to our students.

5.6 Women’s progress measures

 

5.6.1 Policy of Non-discrimination against women

 

University of Cyberjaya does not discriminate based on gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability. Women are treated equally and fair in all facets of operations, opportunities, and decision-making processes. University encourages greater participation by female members of the community through targeted initiatives that promote inclusion. Zero tolerance for harassment. The Whistle Blowing policy protects those reporting discriminations from educational or employment disadvantage.

5.6.2 – Non-discrimination policies for transgender
 

Malaysia was one of the countries in Asia polled with the least acceptance of homosexuality. University of Cyberjaya does not discriminate based on gender, race, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability. Zero tolerance for harassment.

5.6.3 – Maternity policy

 

University of Cyberjaya has a maternity policy that support women’s participation. The purpose of this policy is to support the well-being of employees and their families by providing comprehensive maternity leave benefits. This policy is designed to ensure that women can fully participate in the workplace while balancing their responsibilities as mothers, and to encourage the involvement of fathers in the early stages of their child's life.

 

5.6.4 Childcare Facilities for students

 

The university offers alternative support through partnerships with nearby childcare facilities, such as Munchkin Child Care Centre, Orian Care and Owl Baby and Childcare Centre Cyberjaya. This childcare centre provides hourly care for children, allowing mothers to attend university courses."

5.6.5 Childcare Facilities for staff

 

University of Cyberjaya has kids therapy room which is handled by Faculty of Psychology and Social Sciences. Besides, the university offers alternative support through partnerships with nearby childcare facilities, such as Munchkin Child Care Centre, Orian Care and Owl bbn childcare in Cyberjaya. This childcare centre provides hourly care for children, allowing mothers to attend university courses.

5.6.6 Women’s mentoring schemes

 

University provides mentoring support to students where all female students have access to and participates. In 2023, women’s acceptance or entry rate was at 59.5%. University of Cyberjaya provides our female students to access free tutoring services from qualified tutors in various subjects. Each faculty has their own writing centre which provides assistance with writing assignments, essays, and research papers. Besides, UoC Health and Psychology Clinic and Students Affairs Department provides counselling services to address academic, personal, and career concerns.

5.6.7 Track women’s graduation rate

 

Tracking women's graduation rates is essential for evaluating gender equality and academic success within an institution. A strong graduation rate among women indicates progress toward inclusivity, while any disparities may signal areas for improvement, such as academic support, childcare services, or mentoring programs. University of Cyberjaya track women’s graduation rate through our UC Campus system

 

Through the system the exam unit and faculty are able to track female students progression, absenteeism and graduation rate. Students who are below the benchmark are provided counseling services to address academic, personal, and career concerns.

5.6.9 Paternity policy

 

University has paternity policy to support women’s participation.

 

All male employees are entitled to paternity leave. It shall be granted to eligible employees with full-pay leave for a period of seven (7) consecutive days for up to five (5) surviving children. When a male employee has five or more children, paternity leave will be granted but without pay.

  •  

To be entitled to this leave, the married male employee shall:

 

  1. be under the employment of Cyberjaya Education Berhad Group at least twelve months immediately before the commencement of such paternity leave; and
  2. notify his immediate superior at least thirty days from the expected confinement or as early as possible after the birth.

 

Employees must apply for paternity leave in the Human Resource Management System and documentary proof must be provided in the leave application. Paternity leave must be taken two (2) weeks after the birth of the child.
