UOC Community Unites in Faith and Reflection for Inaugural Majlis Doa Selamat & Solat Hajat 2026

The University of Cyberjaya (UOC) recently brought together Muslim staff and students for its inaugural University-wide Majlis Doa Selamat & Solat Hajat UOC 2026, a meaningful gathering dedicated to prayer, reflection and unity in seeking blessings for the continued growth, wellbeing and success of the University community.

Held at the Grand Hall, the programme was officiated by Professor Dr Azrin Esmady Ariffin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), and organised in collaboration with the Tabung Amanah Zakat & Kebajikan Universiti Cyberjaya (TAZUOC) with the support of the Elite Cyberjaya Huffaz Organisation (ECHO) Student Club.

The event marked a significant milestone for the University, serving as the first University-wide gathering of its kind and reflecting UOC's commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence, but also spiritual wellbeing, compassion and a strong sense of community among its staff and students.

In his opening address, Professor Dr Azrin emphasised the deeper significance of the occasion, describing it as more than just another event in the University's calendar.

"Today's gathering is especially meaningful as we come together to reflect on how far we have come as a University community and seek Allah SWT's blessings as we continue our journey together. It is also a testament to what we can achieve when our staff and students come together with a shared purpose—not only to pursue academic excellence, but also to strengthen our faith, unity and sense of community," he said.

Reflecting on the University's achievements and resilience over the past year, he highlighted the importance of pausing to express gratitude, seek guidance and reinforce the bonds that unite the University community. He also conveyed his appreciation to the organising committee, ECHO Student Club and Masjid Raja Haji Fi Sabilillah for their support in making the programme a success.

The programme centred around the Surah Yasin recitation, Doa Selamat and congregational prayers, providing staff and students with an opportunity to pause, reflect and seek blessings for the University's continued success and wellbeing.

Complementing the programme was a sharing session by Associate Professor Mohamad Saidy Ismail, Chairman of TAZUOC and Senior Lecturer from the Centre for Foundation, Languages and General Studies (CFLGS), who highlighted the University's zakat and welfare initiatives that continue to support members of the University community facing financial challenges.

Established in 2008 and appointed as an authorised amil by the Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS), TAZUOC facilitates the collection and distribution of zakat funds to eligible students and staff from the asnaf categories, helping to ease financial burdens and support their educational journey.

"These students deserve our support so that they can continue their education, graduate successfully and eventually improve the lives of their families," he said.

The sharing session also served as a platform to raise awareness about TAZUOC's assistance schemes and encourage greater participation in the zakat salary deduction initiative. Associate Professor Mohamad Saidy reminded staff that zakat contributions made through authorised institutions are eligible for tax rebates under Malaysian regulations, further encouraging sustainable giving within the University community.

The gathering concluded with congregational Solat Zohor and Solat Hajat, providing participants with an opportunity to unite in prayer for the continued wellbeing, harmony and success of the University and its future aspirations.

As the University of Cyberjaya continues to achieve new milestones and expand its impact in higher education, the Majlis Doa Selamat & Solat Hajat UOC 2026 served as a timely reminder that meaningful growth is strengthened not only through academic achievement, but also through gratitude, compassion and collective purpose. The event reflects the University's commitment to fostering a holistic campus environment where faith, service and community spirit remain at the heart of its journey.
