The holy month of Ramadan is a time marked by spiritual reflection, discipline and community togetherness. Across the Muslim world, mosques and suraus come alive each evening as congregants gather for prayers, including the much-cherished Tarawih. It was within this meaningful atmosphere that two undergraduates from the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) were given the honour of leading prayers at one of Cyberjaya’s most distinguished residential communities — a testament to their devotion, discipline and the nurturing environment fostered at UoC.
Muhammad Abid Najiy bin Azman, a year 2 student pursuing the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), and Wan Saiful Bazli Wan Bazlan, a Year 2 Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Honours) programme student, were selected by the surau committee to serve as guest imams on several nights throughout Ramadan.

Setia Eco Glades is widely recognised as one of Cyberjaya’s most exclusive residential communities, making their appointment both a significant honour and a meaningful responsibility.
Leading Tarawih prayers is a demanding task, requiring the imam to recite lengthy portions of the Holy Qur’an from memory during extended night prayers, without referring to the mushaf. This responsibility requires continuous revision of memorised verses, along with sincerity, mental resilience, physical endurance and disciplined self-management.
When asked how they prepared for this role despite their rigorous academic commitments, Muhammad Abid explained:
“All praises to Allah. We continue our studies during the day as usual, but we must manage our time carefully, conserve our energy, and consistently revise our Qur’anic recitation.”
Meanwhile, Wan Saiful echoed this sentiment.
“We are deeply thankful for this opportunity, as well as for the guidance of our teachers at UoC, our mentors, and the continuous prayers and support from our parents.”
Both Abid and Saiful are among more than 200 high-achieving SPM graduates currently pursuing programmes in the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Honours) at University of Cyberjaya. Alongside their professional studies, they are also undertaking the Sijil Tahfiz JAKIM under the MARA-sponsored Young Talent Programme — a unique pathway that nurtures both academic excellence and Qur’anic memorisation.
Their achievement reflects not only their personal dedication and spiritual commitment but also the holistic educational environment at the University of Cyberjaya, where academic excellence and character development go hand in hand.
