Eleven dedicated psychology students from the Faculty of Psychology and Social Sciences at the University of Cyberjaya recently made a significant impact through an engaging community initiative at SJK (C) Sin Ming. The community camp, aptly themed “Forever Young at Heart: Cherished Memories with Sin Ming,” was organised for 150 graduating Standard 6 students. Over three days and two nights, psychology students from the university took the lead in steering this enriching community engagement camp under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Crendy Tan Yen Teng.
The camp’s core objectives were multifaceted, focusing on enhancing the participants’ confidence, self-discipline, and essential life skills. Through strategically designed activities, the camp aimed to cultivate the young students’ critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills. The interactive environment also promoted team spirit and collaborative skills while boosting physical fitness and flexibility.
Participants were engaged in various activities that included team-building exercises, leadership tasks, and fitness challenges. These activities were fun and crafted to prepare the students for future academic and personal challenges, fostering a sense of self-growth, camaraderie, and resilience.
The successful completion of this camp marks another milestone in the University of Cyberjaya’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and holistic education. The impactful event left a lasting impression on all participants, highlighting the university’s role in nurturing the next generation of changemakers and innovators.
This initiative is a testament to the university’s dedication to extending its educational ethos beyond the classroom, ensuring its students are well-equipped to make significant contributions to society. The Faculty of Psychology and Social Sciences continues to be at the forefront of these efforts, championing the cause of real-world learning and community development.
