Vitagen Health Educational Tour Enhances Dietetics Students’ Industry Exposure at University of Cyberjaya

Students from the Bachelor of Dietetics programme at the University of Cyberjaya recently organised a Vitagen Health Educational Tour to Malaysia Milk Sdn. Bhd., providing students with first-hand exposure to probiotic beverage manufacturing and food product development within a real industrial setting.

This experiential learning initiative involved 22 students from Semester 1, Semester 2, and Semester 4, accompanied by two academic staff members and one administrative staff member from the Faculty of Health. The visit formed part of the BDT2012 Food Product Development course, which is designed to strengthen students’ understanding of theoretical concepts through practical application.

During the programme, participants received a comprehensive briefing from industry representatives, including an introduction to production processes under the Vitagen brand. This was followed by a guided factory tour showcasing fermentation processes, hygiene protocols, quality assurance systems, and stages of food innovation.

The educational visit allowed students to observe how probiotics and functional foods are produced at scale, bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and industry practice. A question-and-answer session further enhanced engagement, enabling students to gain insights into current industry standards and career pathways.

The initiative highlighted the importance of experiential learning in developing industry-ready graduates. By engaging directly with food manufacturing professionals, students strengthened their understanding of food safety, product development, and innovation within the nutrition sector.

Souvenirs were presented as tokens of appreciation, reinforcing collaboration between academia and industry partners, and supporting the University’s commitment to impactful learning experiences.

Overall, the visit reinforced strong university industry collaboration and enhanced students’ practical understanding of contemporary food science and nutrition practices industry.
