“Passion to Care Group” educates the villagers by providing free health check-up and counselling

Young Graduates Help Senior Citizens to Understand Their Health Conditions.

A group of alumni and recent graduates dubbed the “Passion to Care Group” organised a fitness carnival ‘Karnival Sihat’ at Kampung Semaseh, Pagoh on 4th June 2016. The objective of the event was to educate the villagers by providing free health check-up and counselling.

The group of volunteers and CUCMS alumni was established with the aim of pursuing a community service program that helps to educate the community in line with the university’s value namely, Nurturing to Care. It was supported by the participation of Persatuan Pelajar Islam Malaysia-Ireland (PPIMI)

The event started with a free health check-up that gave the participants an overview of their health condition and this then continued with a personalised health counselling. The check-up took into account the patients’ lifestyle and it provided useful recommendations as well as advice on the patients’ medical needs.

The organisers shared that home medication review is essential as it provides insightful information on a patient’s intake routine and behaviour. It also helps the community in terms of preventing diseases.
