On 8 May 2025, the Grand Hall at the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) came alive with rhythm, colour, and cultural pride as the Indian Cultural Society (ICS), under the Student Affairs Department, hosted its highly anticipated ICS Cultural Day 2025. The event drew more than 270 guests including students, alumni, and visitors from various universities for a vibrant evening that celebrated tradition, talent, and unity.
Themed “Celebrate the Colors of Culture – One Heart, Many Traditions,” the event was officially launched by UoC’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Azrin Esmady Ariffin, along with Registrar Ms. Esty Sharkawi and Mohd Khairul Fatha Sharuddin from the Student Affairs Department. Their presence underscored the university’s commitment to fostering cultural inclusivity and student leadership.
The night unfolded in a spectacular blend of old and new, with performances ranging from classical Bharatham dances to modern multicultural musical acts. The stage lit up with energy as students and guest performers brought their best to the crowd. But the most highly anticipated moment of the evening came when popular Malaysian Indian artist Irfan Zaini took the spotlight to officially launch his latest movie video, “Irudhi Strike.” The exclusive unveiling of the video, coupled with Irfan’s live interaction with fans, created a buzz that elevated the night to new heights.
Adding star power to the event were local Malaysian celebrities including Shabby, Moonnila, Alvin Martin Santhiavoo, singer Thanneer Narayanan, Karthik Jay and others. Their involvement, from performances to photo opportunities, added to the excitement-filled atmosphere and gave attendees the opportunity to connect with their favorite stars in an intimate setting.
Among the evening’s other highlights were the ICS Awards Ceremony, honoring outstanding student contributions to the society, the launch of a student-created music video celebrating campus talent, and lively inter-university performances. The event wrapped up on a high note with an open dance floor that invited everyone to celebrate in pure joy.
More than just a showcase of talent, ICS Cultural Day 2025 also stood for a cause. Proceeds from the event went toward the Barani Project, a student welfare initiative aimed to support students in need. This blend of entertainment and empathy made the celebration even more meaningful.
By any measure, ICS Cultural Day 2025 was a resounding success bridging cultures, generations, and hearts through the universal language of celebration. It was a vivid reminder that unity in diversity is not just a concept, but a living experience at the University of Cyberjaya.
