In a landmark move aimed at propelling the future of medical device innovation and education, the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) and the Medical Device Authority (MDA) have signed a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The ceremony at the UoC Welcome Centre was graced by distinguished representatives from both organisations, marking the beginning of a dynamic collaboration.
The MoU was formally signed by Professor Dr. David Whitford, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cyberjaya, and Dr. Muralitharan Paramasua, Chief Executive of the Medical Device Authority. This ceremony marks the beginning of a collaboration designed to strengthen and develop academic and research partnerships for mutual benefit. By creating new opportunities and enhancing expertise, this initiative supports the Government’s mission to empower the medical device sector, a key focus in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030).
Professor Dr. David Whitford expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration will provide our students with invaluable hands-on experience and the opportunity to work closely with industry leaders, preparing them to become the next leaders in medical intervention”.
He added, “Our ultimate goal is to improve the lives of the people we serve. Whether through safer and more effective medical devices or through the education and training of future healthcare workers, our work directly impacts the well-being of our community”.
