17.4 Education for the SDGs

17.4.1 Education for SDGs commitment to meaningful education

The Environmental Volunteerism (MPU) course by the Centre for Foundation, Language & General Studies is a university-wide offering designed for all undergraduates, regardless of programme. It embeds the SDGs into hands-on learning through projects and service activities, and it typically includes class forums and dialogue sessions where students examine real environmental issues (pollution, waste, community impacts) and co-create solutions. Alongside fieldwork, students build practical skills problem-solving, proposal writing, strategic communications or publicity, and project management so the SDG content is not just theory but directly applied.

Because this course is open to every student cohort, it demonstrates the University of Cyberjaya’s commitment to meaningful, institution-wide SDG education that is relevant and applicable to all learners. By structuring learning around forums, reflection, and community projects, the university ensures students from health, engineering, business, and the arts engage with sustainability challenges in ways that fit their disciplines developing graduates who can communicate, manage, and deliver SDG aligned outcomes in any sector.
