“Within the past year, I took part in a talk on Physiotherapy for a safer and Healthier Workplace and visited the Pride Foundation to educate patients and clients on Lymphedema”, said Nashweta.
Growing up as a curious student, Nashweta Kaur Gill never had a definite ambition. “My ambitions often varied. The first time I was asked what I wanted to become when I grow up, my answer was to become an animal doctor, a Veterinarian. As a pet lover, for many years I saw myself becoming a veterinarian in the future. Apart from that, watching my siblings thrive in their profession, I even considered becoming a medical doctor”, she said. Having a passion in Science, Nashweta discovered that she was interested in pursuing her education in the healthcare field.
Prior to her higher education, Nashweta did some research based on different professions available in the medical field. This was the moment she discovered the field of Physiotherapy. Having made up her mind, Nashweta chose to pursue her Bachelor in Physiotherapy at Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS).
Her parents and siblings were extremely supportive of her decision to pursue Physiotherapy. She is often inspired by their quote that “the key to a great future is education”. Being brought up in a home that prioritizes education, Nashweta had carefully considered pursuing her higher education in the field of her passion as one that can help secure her future.
Nashweta is an active member of the CUCMS’ Physiotherapy Society (CPS). She holds the position of publicity manager and her responsibilities include managing the online website and social media platforms of the club. She enjoys being the photographer for events held within the CUCMS’ Physiotherapy Society (CPS). “Within the past year, I took part in a talk on Physiotherapy for a safer and Healthier Workplace and visited the Pride Foundation to educate patients and clients on Lymphedema”, said Nashweta.
Nashweta’s siblings often share stories of Physiotherapists working at hospitals and the nature of their profession to her. This major influence drives her to constantly seek information pertaining to Physiotherapy. It also serves as a continuous motivation for her to become one of the nation’s leading Physiotherapists in the future.
As a future Physiotherapist, Nashweta perceives the medical field to advance rapidly in terms of innovation and technology. “This will certainly make a great impact in Physiotherapy. The Physiotherapy field may eventually come in handy for almost everyone. In fact, as healthcare professionals, we may be able to look at new ways of working in order to nurture physical health. I do believe that the advances will also partake in the realms of medicine, surgery, pharmacy and radiology”, said Nashweta.
