Muhammad Aqief bin Mohd Bahaudin, an alumnus of the University of Cyberjaya Faculty of Pharmacy, has been awarded the prestigious Alpro Kaizen Warrior Award for his courageous intervention during a medical emergency.

Recently embarking on his Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) role at Alpro Pharmacy Seremban Branch, Aqief found himself facing a situation where his academic training merged seamlessly with real-world application. In a local cafe, a sudden medical emergency unfolded as a patron collapsed due to a heart attack. Without hesitation, Aqief leaped into action, drawing upon his medical expertise and swift response skills to administer life-saving aid.

This celebration of Aqief’s heroic act coincides with another moment of pride for the University of Cyberjaya, as it recently secured the Bronze Award in the prestigious Putra Aria Brand Awards. Professor Dr. Zabidi Hussin, Vice Chancellor of the university, emphasised its dedication to shaping the future through quality education and continuous improvement.

The Putra Aria Brand Awards, established to celebrate and acknowledge outstanding brands across various sectors, witnessed an extensive survey process that involved the active participation of over 11,000 respondents. The 8-week-long survey, conducted from September to October 2023, saw respondents voluntarily engaging with ‘invitations-to-participate’ ads published on 62 websites.

The criteria for evaluating brands were comprehensive, reflecting the respondents’ perceptions and experiences. The University of Cyberjaya competed in the Education and Learning category, encompassing universities, private schools and colleges, correspondence courses, and more.

The recognition of Aqief's heroic act and the university's achievement in the Putra Aria Brand Awards exemplify the symbiotic relationship between academic excellence and real-world impact. Aqief's decisive actions not only saved a life but also exemplified the values of leadership and service instilled by the University of Cyberjaya.

Equipped not only with pharmaceutical knowledge but also with values of empathy and quick thinking, Aqief’s academic training played a crucial role in his heroic act. His actions not only saved a life but also exemplified the university’s mission of producing compassionate leaders who actively contribute to society.

Alpro Pharmacy, recognising the extraordinary nature of Aqief’s intervention, honoured him the Kaizen Warrior Award. This accolade underscores the transformative power of education and the profound impact of individuals who embody its principles. Aqief’s acceptance of the award with gratitude highlights the importance of education in fostering personal growth and societal impact.

As the University of Cyberjaya celebrates Aqief’s achievement, it reaffirms its commitment to nurturing future generations of changemakers. Aqief’s story serves as an inspiration to current and future students, reminding them that with knowledge, courage, and a commitment to service, they, too, can make a profound difference in the world.
