The Faculty of Psychology and Social Sciences (FPSS) recently partnered with Beacon Life Training Centre to conduct two impactful workshops aimed at promoting mental health and well-being within the community. This collaboration aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
The first workshop, “Love Workbook: Learning to Express Together with Your Child,” was facilitated by Associate Professor Dr. Crendy Tan Yen Teng. This interactive session guided parents and children through practical strategies to express love and emotions effectively, fostering stronger family bonds. Participants actively engaged in hands-on activities, expressing gratitude for the insights gained in enhancing parent-child communication.
The second workshop, “Caring for the Caregiver: Managing Stress and Self-Care,” conducted by Ms. Lim Jia Hang, focused on the importance of self-care for caregivers. Through guided discussions and stress management techniques, attendees learned how to maintain their mental health while supporting others. Participants shared that the session provided them with valuable tools to manage stress and prevent burnout.
Both workshops received highly positive feedback from participants, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gain practical knowledge in a supportive environment. This collaboration highlights the Faculty’s commitment to community engagement and its dedication to creating meaningful partnerships that promote holistic well-being.
On top of this, the Faculty also did a fundraising in UoC and we collected RM1,000 to donate to Beacon.
