CUCMS among Top 3 Institutions at the 3rd National Clinical Pharmaceutical Challenge

Cyberjaya, 11th April 2017 – Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), Faculty of Pharmacy and the Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA) organized the 3rd National Clinical Pharmaceutical Challenge (NCPC) 2017 at our Cyberjaya Campus. With a theme, ‘Making Excellence A Passion’, the programme aimed to enhance pharmacy students’ competency and knowledge to better prepare them to contribute to the development of the pharmacy profession in the future.

Teams from over 19 Malaysian universities and colleges have participated in this challenge including the likes of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), International Islamic University (IIUM), Universiti Malaya (UM) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The NCPC featured events such as writing test, literature test, objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) and simulation & case study presentations.

Prof. Datin Dr. Rosnani Hashim, the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy at CUCMS said, “NCPC is something that the Malaysian Pharmacy Students’ Association (MyPSA) hold every year and being a host for the third installation helps our students with organizational and leadership skills as well as networking at the same time,”

“We are proud to co-organized this event this year and hope with this continuous activity will enhance students’ confidence and for the betterment of pharmacy industry in the country. We congratulate all the winners for their commitment as well as positive attitude,” she added.

International Medical University (IMU) Team A has been named as the winner for this year’ NCPC as they strive at the final stage defeated Taylor’s University. The members of team A were Thum Enn Yi as the team’s manager, Kow Chia Siang, Hong Khai Shien and Ang Yik Sheng.

Students from Taylor’s University and CUCMS made to the semi-final on the last day of the event. The two-day event saw a straight performance and competitive from each institution.

The event was first organized in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) which aimed to provide pharmacy’s students a platform to compete with pharmacy schools throughout Malaysia. The university join forces to expose our students to be in the competition not only with an objective to win but to enable them with knowledge sharing with students all around Malaysia.
