University of Cyberjaya Continues to Shine and Excel with International Recognition

A great university is about academic excellence and exceptional student experiences. The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) has consistently sought to excel in these key areas.

First established in 2005 as the Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS), this top-tier university has since produced about 4,500 health science professionals including doctors, pharmacists, physiotherapists and psychologists who are at the forefront of the healthcare industry, as well as graduates in occupational safety and health, and biomedical engineering technology.

In recognition of its commitment to quality and over 15 years of academic excellence, the institution was declared as the University of Cyberjaya – a comprehensive university.

Today, there are more than 3,500 students enrolled in over 38 academic programmes ranging from diploma to postgraduate research programmes in various fields including business, accounting, engineering, information technology, medicine, pharmacy, psychology, occupational safety and health, and more.

Almost one-fifth of its students hail from over 40 countries, creating a true melting pot of cultures and experiences.

With a Higher Education Ministry’s Setara five-star (excellent) rating and the international QS five-star rating for teaching, employability, inclusiveness and facilities, UoC is ranked as one of the pre-eminent private universities in Malaysia.

Adding to its list of achievements, the university was also included the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. The university was assessed under four individual Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Good Health and Well-being (top 200), Quality Education (top 600), Gender Equality (top 401+) and Partnerships for the Goals (top 600).

Research and postgraduate studies have been a key focus at the UoC. The university has developed the MSc in Public Health (Global Health), MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences alongside its MSc in Occupational Safety and Health, Master in Clinical Psychology and the much sought-after MBA.

Along the years, the university has attracted many notable students including national diver Nur Dhabitah Sabri. The 21-year-old who is currently undertaking her Diploma of Occupational Safety and Health is set to join Team Malaysia at the Tokyo Olympics next year.

Being the first Malaysian podium finisher in the women’s 3m springboard individual ever since the establishment of the FINA Diving World Series, aside from being conferred the Ahli Mahkota Wilayah award from the Yang diPertuan Agong, the university is honoured to receive her as its golden girl.

UoC also upholds a holistic approach that encourages students to be motivational leaders, inspirational sportspeople, social contributors and more.

One of its most notable student achievements include winning the champion’s title for the fourth consecutive year at the MyPSA National Pharmacy Sports Carnival (NPSC), bagging 22 medals – 10 gold, six silver and six bronze.

True to its motto Nurturing the Passion to Care, UoC students are taught to serve the community while learning to sharpen their skills and expertise.

For instance, right at the start of their studies between Year 1 and 3, students are exposed to international humanitarian programmes, which give them the opportunity to visit countries such as Nepal, Vietnam, Laos, Bangladesh and Indonesia to help communities affected by earthquakes and flash floods.

When students are not busy making waves globally, they are usually found at their modern, fully equipped, green-friendly campus surrounded by lush greenery for a serene and conducive learning environment.

The world-class facilities at UoC include a 1,500-seater grand hall, 1,672sqm modern library, science laboratories, an anatomy gallery and more.
