University of Cyberjaya Receives Delegates from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Maldives

Cyberjaya, 13th May 2022 The Honorable Education Minister for the Republic of Maldives, Dr. Aishath Ali, and her delegates visited the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) today. The visit intended to expand the University's engagement with the Maldives' Ministry of Education in offering world-class education for its nation.

Currently, Maldivian students are enrolled in our Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Business Administration, Diploma and Bachelor of Psychology, Diploma in Medical Assistant, and graduate studies.

Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali, University of Cyberjaya’s Chancellor said during the visit, “We are glad to welcome our distinguished guest, Dr. Aishaht Ali, Minister of Education, and her Maldives delegation. We are optimistic about the outcome of this visit, and we expect more international students to come to Malaysia to study since the pandemic has gradually receded over the last two years and more countries have opened their borders.’

The University of Cyberjaya's strategic plan calls for a 25% increase in the international student population by 2023. Its internationalisation strategy serves to elevate the University to compete in the global arena and further internationalise the campus. Currently, UoC’s international students hail from over 55 countries throughout the world and are on track to accomplish its objective by next year.

Dr. Aishath Ali, Minister of Education of the Republic of Maldives said, “The goal of our visit to Malaysia is to create bilateral relationships with Malaysian universities and schools to improve our education system. Our visit to the University of Cyberjaya is primarily to look for opportunities for our Maldivian students and to learn more about the programmes provided by this university.”

Education is an essential component of every nation-building effort, and the University of Cyberjaya is interested in participating in the Maldives' Ministry of Education's plan to achieve this objective by benchmarking its policies, rules and regulations, and curriculum to international standards.

Joining her from the Maldives are Mr Mohamed Ihsaan, Deputy Minister, Mr Ahmed Ali, Permanent Secretary, Mr Naushad Ibrahim, Senior Policy Director, Mr Abdulla Ismail, Education Specialist and Ms Aminath Fazeena Naseer, Personal Assistant of the Honorary Minister.

International students at UoC, including students from the Maldives have found a haven through the warm community at the University. Nadha Ibrahim, a Master in Business Administration student from the Maldives said, “My stay at the University of Cyberjaya has been incredible, especially the Faculty of Business and Technology, which has prompted me to bring my kid to this university as well. It has been a pleasure to study at UoC, and I plan to complete my PhD here one day.”

The University Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Anuwar Ali, Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato' Dr. R. Palan, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr. Mohamad Abd Razak, and other top university management welcomed the guests. The Vice-Chancellor of the University provided the delegates with the University's history, as well as the university's current and future direction in offering the best education to our students. The delegates then went on a brief campus tour, which was followed by refreshments.
