
The University of Cyberjaya (UoC) has strengthened its international higher education collaboration through a strategic engagement with a delegation from the Republic of Seychelles, focusing on academic partnerships, scholarship frameworks, and graduate employability.
Led by Mr David Pierre, Minister for Education and Human Resource Development of the Republic of Seychelles, the delegation gained insights into Malaysia’s higher education system, including university governance, academic quality assurance, and student support systems that enhance the student learning experience.
Higher Education Partnerships and Scholarship Development
A key focus of the discussion was strengthening higher education partnerships between Malaysia and Seychelles. Both parties explored opportunities to enhance scholarship frameworks, improve access to higher education, and support sustainable academic collaboration.
The engagement also highlighted the importance of aligning academic programmes with workforce development needs, particularly in priority sectors identified by Seychelles. This supports the development of industry-ready graduates with relevant knowledge, practical skills, and global competencies.
Enhancing Student Learning and Graduate Employability
The collaboration reflects UoC’s commitment to delivering a strong student learning experience with global exposure. International engagement opportunities such as this enhance students’ understanding of global higher education systems, while strengthening cross-cultural awareness and employability skills.

The session was attended by senior representatives from both countries, reinforcing the importance of academic diplomacy and global engagement in higher education.
Representing the UoC were Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr R. Palan, Pro-Chancellor; Professor Dr David Whitford, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive; and senior leadership team members. The Seychelles delegation included Mr John Lesperance, Mr Bernard Arnephy, and Ms Francoise Mein. The visit was coordinated by Mr Kabilan Muniandy and his team.
