The University of Cyberjaya marked a significant milestone in advancing physiotherapy education with the official handover of the PainBot system by AdipoLABs Healthcare (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, reinforcing a strategic partnership focused on innovation in rehabilitation, teaching, and clinical practice.

The ceremony, held at the School of Physiotherapy, also formalised the PainBot Addendum and Right-to-Use Agreement, enabling the integration of this advanced pain management technology into the University’s academic, training, and research ecosystem.

The PainBot system represents a step forward in technology-enhanced physiotherapy education, supporting both students and academic staff in adopting modern approaches to pain management and rehabilitation.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr Phelim Yong, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health, emphasised the importance of industry collaboration in preparing future-ready graduates and bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world clinical application.

The session included a live demonstration of the PainBot system, showcasing its applications in pain management, rehabilitation, and clinical practice. Final-year physiotherapy students attended the session, gaining exposure to advanced technologies that reinforce a data-driven, evidence-based approach to physiotherapy practice.

The PainBot system was formally received by Assoc Prof Balaji, Acting Head of the School of Physiotherapy, on behalf of the University, marking a key step in strengthening academic–industry collaboration in physiotherapy education and innovation.

Assoc Prof Balaji highlighted the academic and research significance of the collaboration:
“The integration of technologies such as PainBot strengthens our ability to bridge teaching, clinical practice, and research. It enables students to engage with real-world innovations while opening opportunities for applied research in pain management and rehabilitation, aligned with our focus on evidence-based and data-informed physiotherapy practice.”

The collaboration also creates opportunities to advance research and innovation, including the development of technology-assisted rehabilitation approaches, evidence-based pain management protocols, and the integration of clinical data into teaching and student research.

The event was attended by academic staff and students from the Faculty of Health, reflecting strong institutional engagement in advancing physiotherapy education through innovation.

This collaboration underscores the University of Cyberjaya’s commitment to strengthening academic–industry partnerships, integrating advanced technologies into teaching and learning, and enhancing student readiness for modern healthcare environments.
