The Grand Hall at University of Cyberjaya was brimming with energy, emotion, and inspiration as 142 Foundation in Arts students brought their talents to life during the FIART Got Talent Showcase 2025. Organised by the Centre for Foundation, Language and General Studies (CFLGS), this event marked the culmination of the Self-Development subject under the theme “Ilham”—a powerful Malay word symbolising inspiration, creativity, and the spark of new ideas.

Graced by the presence of the university’s leadership and special guests, the event celebrated more than just talent—it celebrated growth, courage, and vision.

The showcase was honoured by the attendance of:

  • Professor Dr. David Whitford, Vice-Chancellor, University of Cyberjaya
  • Professor Dr. Azrin Esmady Ariffin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
  • Associate Professor Eric Tang Cher Hing, Director, Centre for Foundation, Language and General Studies (CFLGS)

Their presence reflected the university’s strong commitment to holistic student development.

In addition to live performances, the event featured a powerful Vision Board Exhibition. A total of 142 unique vision boards—each narrating students' dreams, values, and life goals—lined the hall. The exhibition offered guests a glimpse into the inner worlds of our students, highlighting their aspirations and the steps they are taking toward personal growth.

The highlight of the day was the 11 engaging performances showcasing drama, dance, music, and spoken word by the following groups:

  1. Longing Memories
  2. Neon Misfits
  3. High School Memories
  4. Dream Flow
  5. Hidden Scars Crew
  6. Thara Local Boys
  7. The Shadows of Love
  8. Velvet Thirteen
  9. Bloom Ignition
  10. Nirmala Seri
  11. Absolute Cinema Productions

Each performance represented teamwork, resilience, and creativity—with all of them featuring mentors on stage, which left a lasting impression on the judges and audience alike.

The talents were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges:

  • Ms. Syazaira Arham Binti Yahya Ariff, Lecturer, CFLGS
  • Mr. Mohd Faiz Bin Alias, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Creative Arts & Design
  • Head Judge: Mr. Irfan Syahmi Nasution, RTM Commentator, TV Host & Scriptwriter

They praised the students for their originality, performance quality, and emotional expression, noting the event as “a brilliant showcase of potential.”

Parents, faculty, and the broader university community filled the hall with enthusiastic applause and support. Many were moved by the students’ honesty, vulnerability, and joy on stage. The involvement of mentors in the creative process was a highlight, demonstrating the power of meaningful academic relationships.

“It’s incredibly heartening to witness students expressing themselves so freely while collaborating meaningfully with their mentors. This is what education should be; empowering, uplifting, and deeply inspiring. At the end of the day, love what you do, and do what you love. That’s what will drive you forward in life,” shared Mr. Irfan Syahmi Nasution, Head Judge, Selamat Pagi Malaysia RTM TV Host.

“Taking the stage in front of hundreds of people was something I never imagined I could do. I’ve always struggled with stage fright, but as a team leader, I knew I had to face it. With the unwavering support of my mentor and team, I managed to overcome my fear. This experience didn’t just help me perform—it helped me find confidence I didn’t know I had.” — Rosyan, 2C Student from The Shadows of Love group.

“What I thought would be a stressful, overwhelming event turned out to be the most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on. From staying up late brainstorming and writing scripts, to making costumes and props—it felt like the days ended at 3am. And then, we won. The moment my team cheered around me, I felt the weight lift from my shoulders. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of having your first-ever stage performance become a success. I’ve made friendships I never expected, and this event truly opened a new chapter in my life.” — Wiliona Joanne, 1A Student from Absolute Cinema Productions group, the Winner of the day.

The FIART Got Talent Showcase 2025 served not just as an end-of-course celebration, but as a powerful reminder of the value of self-expression, collaboration, and inspiration in education. It was a day where every student had a voice—and they used it to shine.

Congratulations to all performers, mentors, and organisers for an unforgettable and meaningful event!
