The Open House organized by ‘Institut Onn Ja’afar’ was aimed at bringing some festive cheer to the homeless
Kuala Lumpur, 5th February - CUCMS's International Student Club, Futsal & Football Club (CUCMS FC) and Physiotherapy Student Society participated in a Chinese New Year open house. The event held at 'Pusat Transit Gelandangan' was attended by 250 needy and homeless adults and children from the city center. The University's student volunteers were present to serve food and converse with the guests.

Organizing committee chairman, Charles Mohan said 'We should not abandon and neglect these people who really need us. We need to be constantly focused and sensitive of their problems which can be addressed." "We will continue to pursue such initiatives with the assistance of private and government agencies as well" he added.
According to Rand Omar, a CUCMS international student from Iraq, she felt blessed and happy to be able to be part of such a programme and do the little he can to bring joy into their lives. "It's truly rewarding to see how this event can bring joy to those who live in this transit house."
Students served food to the needy and homeless at the transit home
Transit houses provide temporary housing for the homeless with support services such as bathrooms, toilets, prayer rooms and storerooms.
Vishanth Rathakrishnan, an undergraduate student said such programmes help students to realize they can make a difference. "I believe it also helps develop awareness and a better understanding of the community we live in".
Mr. Sudager, advisor of the Futsal & Football Club (CUCMS FC) and International Student Society was humbled by the response from students. "I am pleased to see the students work together in unity for a good cause and this will strengthen the ties between these three clubs".
